Rapper Lil Jon’s 27-year-old son, Nathan Smith (professionally known as DJ Young Slade), had been missing since February 3 after reportedly running from his home in Milton, Georgia, toward a nearby pond. Authorities believed he may have been disoriented and in need of assistance.
On Friday (February 6), divers from the Cherokee County Fire Department recovered a body from the pond, believed to be Nathan Smith. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm the identity and determine the cause of death next week. No foul play is suspected at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
In a joint statement, Lil Jon and Nathan’s mother, Nicole Smith, expressed profound heartbreak, describing him as a kind, talented music producer, artist, engineer, and NYU graduate who was deeply loved. The family has requested privacy during this difficult period.
