Six Nations 2026: Wales Name Louis Rees-Zammit at Full-Back for England Opener

Wales have selected Louis Rees-Zammit at full-back for their 2026 Guinness Six Nations opener against England at Twickenham on Saturday, February 7 (16:40 GMT). The 25-year-old (35 caps) returns to the position he prefers after switching from wing at Bristol Bears following his American football stint. Scarlets flanker Josh Macleod earns his Six Nations debut after injury recovery, while centre Eddie James is recalled. Captain Dewi Lake starts at hooker, with Josh Adams on the wing and Tomas Francis on the bench (first Test since 2023 World Cup). Under new head coach Steve Tandy, Wales seek to end a dire run—no Six Nations win since March 2023, only two victories in 23 Tests. Tandy said: “Opening the Six Nations at Twickenham is historic… I want to see us attack the game.” England, in top form with 11 straight wins and world No. 3 ranking, pose a tough challenge.
