Former Arsenal and Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, 32, is nearing a move to Scottish champions Celtic as a free agent. The England international has been clubless since departing Besiktas in August and recently trained with Arsenal. Celtic manager Martin O’Neill expressed strong interest, saying: “I’ve spoken to him… He was very excited about what we were saying. He knows all about the club, he’s a big friend of Joe Hart… I’m surprised people haven’t taken him up.” Oxlade-Chamberlain started at Southampton, won three FA Cups at Arsenal (198 appearances), and helped Liverpool secure the Champions League, Premier League, and other trophies despite recurring injuries (including a year out with knee ligament damage). He made 46 appearances and scored five goals at Besiktas. With 35 England caps and seven goals, the deal is progressing but not yet finalised.
