Brad Arnold, the founding member, lead singer, and songwriter of American rock band 3 Doors Down, has died at the age of 47, the group announced on social media. 📢 Arnold passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, surrounded by loved ones after a battle with stage-4 kidney cancer he publicly disclosed in May 2025.

Arnold co-founded the band in 1996 in Mississippi, and was the creative force behind several of their biggest hits, including the breakout track “Kryptonite”, written when he was just 15. The band also scored major success with songs like “When I’m Gone” and “Here Without You”, helping define their place in early-2000s rock music.

The band and fans have paid tribute to Arnold’s impact on rock music and his kindness, humility, and devotion to family, saying his musical legacy will continue to resonate long after his passing.
