Iran has signalled it is willing to consider compromises in its nuclear programme if the United States is prepared to talk about lifting sanctions, Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi said in an interview with the BBC.

Takht-Ravanchi stressed that Tehran’s readiness to discuss curbs, including diluting its 60% enriched uranium stockpile, hinges on Washington’s willingness to address the crippling sanctions on Iran’s economy. However, he made clear that linking nuclear talks to other issues such as missiles remains off the table.

The comments come ahead of a second round of indirect nuclear talks scheduled in Geneva, following initial discussions in Oman earlier this month. Iran maintains that any agreement must be mutually beneficial and focused on the nuclear issue itself.
